De IDF is een van de beste legers ter wereld. Ja, ze zijn goed opgeleid. Maar het geheim van hun succes is dat God hen beschermt.

De enige manier waarop de IDF Israël goed kan beschermen, is als God de IDF beschermt. En wij moeten ons deel doen door te bidden. We moeten God vragen om de soldaten van de IDF veilig te houden en om succesvol te zijn in hun inspanningen.
Er zijn verschillende manieren om te bidden. En soms bidden we door middel van een lied . Dit lied is precies dat: een gebed. De woorden zijn mooi.
We hebben misschien niet allemaal de mogelijkheid om fysiek te vechten en te dienen in de IDF, maar we hebben allemaal de mogelijkheid om te bidden en met God te spreken.
Vertaling van de songtekst:
Meester van alle werelden, de Koning aan wie de vrede toebehoort, op deze dag waarop we ons kind begeleiden om het Joodse volk en allen die in Israël wonen door middel van legerdienst te dienen, brengen we voor u onze smeekbeden dat u uw baldakijn van vrede zult uitspreiden op hem/haar en op alle soldaten van de IDF. Geef ze de energie, behendigheid en vreugde om het gebod ‘de hulp om Israël uit de handen van vijanden te houden’ te vervullen, en geef ze moed, inzicht en kracht. Bescherm hen tegen alle gevaar of nood, verwondingen of obstakels, en breng ze veilig en gezond terug naar hun huizen en families, naar lichaam en geest. Moge door hen het vers worden vervuld: maak mijn pad volmaakt.” En moge het duidelijk zijn door onze zoon/dochter en door de hele IDF: “God zal je beschermen tegen alle kwaad, Hij zal je wezen beschermen; God zal je komen en gaan beschermen van nu tot in de eeuwigheid”. Amen.

The IDF is one of the best armies in the world. Yes, they are trained well. But the secret to their success is that G-d protects them.

The only way that the IDF can protect Israel properly is if G-d protects the IDF. And we have to do our part by praying. We have to ask G-d to keep the soldiers of the IDF safe and for them to be successful in their endeavours.
There are different ways to pray. And sometimes, we pray through song. This song is just that – a prayer. The words are beautiful.
We may not all have the ability to physically fight and serve in the IDF, but we all have the ability to pray and speak to G-d.
Translation of the lyrics:
Master of All Worlds, the King to whom peace belongs, On this day on which we escort our child to serve the Jewish People and All Who Dwell In Israel through army service, we throw before You our pleas that You will spread Your canopy of peace upon him/ her and upon all soldiers of the IDF. Grant them the energy, agility, and joy to fulfill the commandment, “the help of Israel from the hands of enemies,” and give them courage, insight, and strength. Protect them from all danger or peril, injury or obstacle, and return them to their homes and families safe and whole, in body and in spirit, and through them may the verse be fulfilled: “It is G-d who girds me with valor, who makes my path perfect.” And may it be manifest through our son/daughter and through all of the IDF: ”G-d will protect you from all evil, He will protect your being; G-d will protect your comings and goings from now through eternity”. Amen.
