In de stad Karmel, ten zuiden van Hebron, is donderdagavond een “shelter-in-place” (naar schuilplaats)-bevel uitgevaardigd omdat er een klopjacht gaande is op een vermoedelijke terrorist die een Israëlische tiener neerschoot en verwondde.

Volgens de Jerusalem Post werd het slachtoffer, dat ongeveer 18 jaar oud was, door Magen David Adom naar een ziekenhuis vervoerd.
MDA paramedicus Elad Pass vertelde de Post dat het slachtoffer schotwonden had in zijn bovenlichaam, maar volledig bij bewustzijn was en communiceerde met de eerste hulpverleners terwijl zij probeerden het bloeden te stoppen alvorens hem te evacueren naar het Soroka ziekenhuis in Beersheba.
Pass zei dat de toestand van het slachtoffer matig en stabiel was.
Een infiltratiesirene klonk tijdens de aanval, maar men vermoedt dat de verdachten van buiten Karmel hebben geschoten.
Hamas woordvoerder Hazem Qassem sprak zijn steun uit voor de aanslag.
“Van het noorden van de West Bank in Jenin al Qassam, tot het zuiden in Khalil al-Rahman, zetten de revolutionaire jongeren op de West Bank hun strijd tegen het bezettingsleger en zijn kolonisten voort,” zei Qassem volgens de Post. “De operatie in de nederzetting Carmel, ten zuiden van Hebron, is een voortzetting van het antwoord van ons volk op de zionistische agressie tegen de al-Aqsa moskee en de misdaden van de bezetting.”
De aanslagen komen na een golf van terroristische aanslagen in de afgelopen weken, in de aanloop naar de Joodse feestdagen, waaronder de moord op IDF-majoor Bar Falah door twee Palestijnse terroristen tijdens een vuurgevecht bij de Jalamah-overgang op woensdag.
Vorige week werd in Jaffa een Palestijn gearresteerd die een machinepistool en explosieven bij zich had om een terroristische aanslag te plegen in Tel Aviv. Eerder deze maand raakten IDF-soldaten gewond nadat een Palestijnse terrorist het vuur had geopend op een bus waarin zij reden in de Jordaanvallei.

A shelter-in-place order has been issued in the town of Karmel, south of Hebron Thursday night as a manhunt is underway for a suspected terrorist who shot and wounded an Israeli teen.

According to the Jerusalem Post, the victim, who was approximately 18 years old, was transported to a hospital by Magen David Adom.
MDA paramedic Elad Pass told the Post that the victim suffered gunshot wounds to his upper body but was fully conscious and communicated with first responders while they worked to stop the bleeding before evacuating him to Beersheba’s Soroka hospital.
Pass said that the victim’s condition was moderate and stable.
An infiltration siren sounded during the attack, but it is believed the suspects shot from outside of Karmel.
Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem expressed support for the attack.
“From the north of the West Bank in Jenin al Qassam, to its south in Khalil al-Rahman, the rebellious youth in the West Bank continue their fight against the occupation army and its settlers,” Qassem said according to the Post. “The operation in the Carmel settlement, south of Hebron, is a continuation of our people’s response to the Zionist aggression on al-Aqsa Mosque and the crimes of the occupation.”
The attacks come after a wave of terrorist attacks in recent weeks, ahead of the Jewish high holidays, which includes the killing of IDF Maj. Bar Falah by two Palestinian terrorists during a firefight near Jalamah crossing on Wednesday.
Last week, a Palestinian has arrested in Jaffa carrying a submachine gun and explosives to commit a terrorist attack in Tel Aviv. Earlier this month, IDF soldiers were injured after a Palestinian terrorist opened fire on a bus they were riding in the Jordan Valley.
